UPSC OTR 2025 : Registration Details

  • Purpose: To simplify the application process for various UPSC exams.
  • Mandatory For: All future UPSC recruitment exams (e.g., Civil Services, CDS, NDA, etc.)
  • Who Can Register: Anyone eligible for UPSC exams.
  • Benefits: Streamlines the process for repeat candidates and auto-fills application forms.
  • OTR Validity: Lifetime (but the profile must be kept updated).
  • Editing Allowed?: Yes, most fields can be updated anytime. However, some basic fields can be changed only once in a lifetime after registration.

How to Register UPSC New OTR Online Form 2025

Instructions for creating your account (Based on Official UPSC Notification)

  • Step 1: Go to the UPSC Online Portal
    1. Visit the official UPSC website: upsconline.nic.in
    2. Go to the "One-time Registration (OTR) for Examinations" portal.
    3. You will find options to Create Account, Login, fill the Common Application Form (CAF), etc.
  • Step 2: Create Your UPSC Account
    1. Click on "Create Account" from the navigation bar.
    2. Read the instructions, tick the declaration box, and click "Proceed for Account Creation".
    3. You will need a valid Email ID and an active Mobile Number for OTP verification.
  • Step 3: Login to the Portal
    1. After successful registration, you can log in.
    2. Login options include: Email ID + OTP, Mobile Number + OTP, or OTR ID (once generated) + Password.
  • Step 4: Complete Universal Registration (UR)
    1. Go to the Universal Registration section.
    2. Fill the 3 mandatory profiles: Identity Profile (Name, DOB, Gender), Matriculation Profile (Class 10 Board, Roll No., Year), and Aadhaar Photo ID Profile.
    3. Important: You can edit these details until a Universal Registration Number (URN) is generated. Click "Lock and Submit" to generate the URN. No edits are allowed after this.
  • Step 5: Fill the Common Application Form (CAF)
    1. The CAF has 10 modules to be filled: Personal Profile, Parents' Profile, Social Status Profile, Disability Profile, Other Details Profile, Educational Profile, Employment Experience, Achievements, Previous UPSC Exams, and Photo & Signature Upload.
  • Step 6: Lock the CAF
    1. Review all the entries carefully.
    2. Tick the consent box.
    3. Click "Lock CAF". No edits are allowed for that specific exam once the CAF is locked.

How to Apply for a Specific Examination on the New Portal

  • Step 1: Choose Exam to Fill Application Form
    1. Go to the New OTR Portal and log in.
    2. Go to the "Examinations" section or the 4th card on the dashboard.
    3. Click "Apply" next to your desired exam.
    4. The system will lead to a dynamic Exam-Specific Form using your UR + CAF data.
  • Step 2: Fill Exam-Specific Form
    1. Fill in any remaining required fields.
    2. Pay the application fee (if applicable) via Net Banking, UPI, etc.
    3. Choose your examination centre.
    4. Perform a final review and submit the application. A confirmation PDF and payment receipt will be generated.
